Roman Shades

Roman shades, or blinds, are window treatments which differ from other coverings such as vertical blinds or roller shades, by being made of a fabric that folds instead of rolling or flipping aside. The stacked up fabric creates a nice impression and a familiar, friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The typical Roman shades are made of vividly colored or uni-tone textiles, but there are cases when such window coverings can be made out of wood. Not all types of wood are suitable, the best ones being bamboo, rattan, wicker or jute. Generally speaking, weeds are appropriate for manufacturing Roman blinds, thanks to their flexibility.

For most daring home owners and interior decorators, roman shades can be made of several materials woven together, combined with fabric, in such a way that they allow folding and stacking up of the shade when lift. The most common system for raising and lowering the roman shades is with a cord. Of course, our lazy generation invented the automatic, cordless roman blinds, for more convenience and comfort.

Patterns on roman shades can be anything you possibly imagine. You can use diamonds and stars, watercolor designs or even photographs. There is a special technique which can imprint your desired photo on a piece of fabric, which you’ll use to make your roman shades from. This can be a cool idea for children’s rooms.

The most beautiful part in choosing roman shades for your windows is that you can match them with the table cloth or with the upholstery on the sofa and on the chairs. All you have to do is just to buy more of that textile material when you decide to go for redecorating. Then, all your guests will be impressed with your style, not realizing that you were able to achieve that feeling with the help of some simple roman shades.
